I am Carol Tshabalala who are you? Having picked up the moniker of ‘The First Lady of Sport’, Carol Tshabalala brings her extensive knowledge and passion to the SuperSport team as a presenter. Why choose a career in sport? I say this perfect career chose me. The opportunity came to me through my passion and interest in sport and ability to hold an audience transfixed and informed. What have been the highlights so far? There have been so many in my career – working on three FIFA World Cups, being the only African to have hosted the FIFA Ballon D’or, working on three Olympic Games, travelling the world, meeting a host of sporting icons and now being the only Premier League anchor outside of the UK. The biggest challenges and thrills of being a woman sports personality? We The challenges of being a woman in sport came 18 years ago when I was still starting out and it was vastly an unfamiliar field to have a female anchor. Having to convince the masses that I stand toe to toe and are even better than my male colleagues. Since then, and having been proven as a quality anchor, the thrills are many! As a woman you stand out in this field and look better and more colourful than the men. Three things you can’t live without? My passport My phone My lip balm Who is your superhero and why? Thor! I love him because he has the best of all worlds. He has a super charming human personality, is immortal and gets to rule over the cosmos. In five years time I will be… Continuing to break boundaries, setting new heights and showing people all over the world that anything is possible!
